GATE 2013

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology.  GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The GATE score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a candidate. The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate programmes (eg. M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian higher education institutes with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies.  The score may also be used by Public sector units for employment screening purposes.  Read more about GATE.

AICTE has now decided to conduct CMAT twice a year

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced the National Level Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for admission in all management programs for facilitating institutions for the Academic Year 2013 – 2014. The notification is issued to announce the schedule for conducting first Test of Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for admission for academic year 2013-14. The students will be eligible to appear in both the exam and best of the two scores will be used for admission for 2013-14.

CAT 2012

The Common Admission Test (CAT) for 2012 for admission to Indian Institutes of Management will be held from October 11 to November 6. It will be coordinated by IIM, Kozhikode.

The test comprises two sections that are separately timed. Each of the sections will be of 70-minute duration. There will be 30 questions in each section. The sections are to test quantitative ability and data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning.


Once a section ends, candidates can no longer go back to it. They will be presented with the section on quantitative ability and data interpretation first, followed by verbal ability and logical reasoning.

Vouchers for applications will be issued from July 30 to September 17 from the authorised bank and online registration can be made from July 30 to September 19. The results will be announced on January 9.
